The Russian military conducted 17 group strikes and one massive attack against targets across Ukraine over the past week, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Defence officials reported that the strikes targeted military-industrial enterprises, fuel and energy facilities, transport infrastructure, and logistics centres supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The ministry said the week-long operation was carried out using ground-based and air-based high-precision weapons alongside long-range unmanned aerial vehicles. Precision missiles and long-range drones form a core component of modern aerial strike operations designed to hit distant strategic targets.
According to the defence ministry, several Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities were put out of action during the bombardment. Officials stated that these port sites were used to receive and store military cargo, as well as fuel and lubricants designated for Ukrainian forces.
Maritime and river ports in Ukraine serve as essential transit points for heavy cargo, fuel shipments, and operational supplies. Disabling port facilities impairs logistics corridors that sustain military operations and regional energy distribution.
Targeted sites and logistics hubs
The ministry added that ammunition and fuel storage depots were hit during the strikes, along with specialized workshops used for manufacturing and storing drones. Temporary deployment locations housing Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries were also targeted throughout the week.
Foreign fighters and volunteer units have operated alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the onset of the conflict. Military logistics sites and temporary staging bases are frequently designated as priority targets to disrupt troop concentrations and equipment distribution.
Russian officials also disclosed that attacks against targets in Kyiv used in the interests of the Ukrainian military were enabled in part by new Geran-5 drones. The Ministry of Defence explained that these newly fielded drones are also referred to as cruise missiles.
Role of long-range drone systems
The Geran family of unmanned aerial vehicles includes long-range loitering munitions capable of striking fixed infrastructure targets over extended distances. Classifying such heavy strike drones as cruise missiles reflects their operational range, guidance systems, and warhead capabilities.
