Russian singer Roma Zver, frontman of the rock band Zveri, swore at the audience during a concert in Moscow, prompting producer Pavel Rudchenko to suggest the outburst was the result of a psychological breakdown, according to Gazeta.Ru.
Zver, whose real name is Roman Bilyk, lost his temper during the show at the Luzhniki stadium. He stepped away from the microphone and cursed at the crowd, saying fans should have been singing along instead of filming the performance on their phones. Social media users said he also called the audience "rams," a Russian insult roughly equivalent to calling someone an idiot.
Producer's explanation
Rudchenko said he believed Bilyk's reaction stemmed from strain, noting that the singer had already announced he was pausing his touring career because he could no longer cope with the pressure of performing. Rudchenko said he thought the outburst was linked to that decision, telling Gazeta.Ru that he suspected it was a breakdown connected to Bilyk's earlier statement about halting his concert activity.
Rudchenko described Bilyk's behavior toward the audience as unacceptable and called on him to apologize to his fans. He added that major international stars and legendary Soviet-era performers had never allowed themselves to treat their audiences with such disregard.
Comparisons with other performers
The producer said audiences might forgive similar liberties from singer Grigory Leps, since outspoken behavior is seen as part of his stage persona. But he said the same leeway does not apply to Bilyk, warning that the incident could damage his reputation.
Zveri's future plans
Zveri, whose name means "Animals" in Russian, is one of the country's well-known rock bands, with Bilyk as its longtime frontman. The Luzhniki stadium, where the concert took place, is one of Moscow's largest venues, regularly used for major sporting events and concerts.
The outburst comes after Bilyk said Zveri would stop releasing new songs. The band had earlier announced it would go on a creative hiatus starting in 2027.
