Spanish media group Mediaset has reorganized its weekend news lineup, moving veteran anchor Roberto Arce to Telecinco while appointing his son Diego Arce to replace him on Noticias Cuatro.
The management decision fills the anchor vacancy created at Telecinco following the departure of María Casado during the summer for personal and work-life balance reasons. The change represents a direct handover from father to son on the Cuatro weekend news desk.
First reported by industry outlet Poco Pasa TV and later confirmed by specialized media, the restructuring pairs Roberto Arce with co-anchor Carmen Corazzini on Telecinco's weekend bulletins. Corazzini presented the broadcast slot throughout August, and Mediaset plans to maintain her as a primary news face alongside Arce.
The transition marks the end of a long-standing television partnership while keeping Roberto Arce within Mediaset España, the broadcasting company that operates both channels. Arce joined Mediaset in 2011 following an extended career at rival commercial broadcaster Antena 3.
Roberto Arce's decade on Cuatro
Roberto Arce began co-presenting weekend editions of Noticias Cuatro alongside Marta Reyero in 2014. The pair formed a durable screen partnership that survived major structural revisions across the television network.
When Mediaset temporarily shelved the Noticias Cuatro brand in 2019, the group retained Arce and Reyero as a team to present Cuatro al día: fin de semana. When Mediaset relaunched Noticias Cuatro in January 2024, executives again selected the duo as lead anchors for the refreshed service.
After more than ten years of sharing a presentation desk, Roberto Arce will now step away from Reyero to join Informativos Telecinco, the primary news division of the broadcaster. Although Arce previously hosted other Mediaset programs, including Amores que duelen on Telecinco, the move marks his debut as a flagship news anchor for the main channel.
Diego Arce moves from reporting to the news desk
Diego Arce transitions to the anchor desk from his role as an off-camera reporter within the Noticias Cuatro newsroom, where he primarily covered political affairs and court proceedings. Network executives treated his appointment as an internal promotion rather than an external hire.
The younger journalist holds a law degree alongside specialized qualifications in audiovisual journalism. He began his television career at Antena 3 Noticias, starting at the same national newsroom where his father spent much of his broadcasting career before joining Mediaset.
Diego Arce subsequently gained experience across several Spanish networks and regional channels, including public broadcaster TVE and regional channel Telemadrid. His credits include work on current affairs programs such as 120 minutos, Las cosas claras, Los teloneros, Madrid Directo, and En boca de todos.
His move to the studio desk creates an unusual broadcast transition on Spanish television. Veteran presenter Marta Reyero will move directly from co-presenting Noticias Cuatro with father Roberto Arce to hosting the identical bulletin alongside his son Diego.
Broader changes in Telecinco newsroom
Roberto Arce brings more than two decades of prior experience at Antena 3 to his new Telecinco role. During his tenure at the broadcaster, he worked as a field reporter, news editor, deputy director, and presenter. His reporting career included international war zone assignments covering both the Gulf War and the Bosnian War.
At Antena 3, Arce anchored standard bulletin editions of Antena 3 Noticias and presented flagship magazine and discussion programs including Espejo Público, Buenos días, España, and La respuesta.
The arrival of Roberto Arce and Carmen Corazzini comes during a period of sustained turnaround for Telecinco weekend broadcasts. The exit of María Casado followed another high-profile departure in 2025, when anchor David Cantero left Mediaset after nearly 15 years with the company.
Simultaneous broadcasts and official rollout
If all reported changes proceed as planned, father and son will host competing weekend news broadcasts on Mediaset's two primary television channels at the same time, with Roberto anchoring on Telecinco and Diego presenting on Cuatro.
Mediaset has not yet released an official corporate statement detailing the newsroom reorganization. The exact premiere dates for both new presenter pairings will remain unconfirmed until the broadcaster publishes its formal schedule announcement.
