Robert Pattinson film Primetime gets digital release

Robert Pattinson's new feature film Primetime is now available to watch online, securing a digital release just over a month after its theatrical run began. The British actor takes the leading role in the new drama.

The film tells the story behind the creation of the popular television show To Catch a Predator. Its central character is television presenter Chris Hansen, who organised sting operations to track down and detain sexual predators targeting minors.

To Catch a Predator originally premiered on the National Broadcasting Company television network, known as NBC, in 2004. The investigative series quickly grew into a widespread cultural phenomenon across the United States, drawing large television audiences with its dramatic undercover sting operations.

Director and supporting cast

Lance Oppenheim directed the feature. Oppenheim previously made the acclaimed documentary Some Kind of Heaven. The supporting cast features Merritt Wever, who appeared in Something the Lord Made, alongside Skyler Gisondo from Superman and singer Phoebe Bridgers, who featured in I Saw the TV Glow, as part of an ensemble of performers.

Pattinson first reached global stardom playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight movie series before taking on challenging roles in independent cinema, including Good Time and The Lighthouse, and later starring as Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Hansen worked for decades in American broadcast journalism, becoming known across the country for confronting suspects on camera during NBC News investigations.

Oppenheim built his filmmaking profile through celebrated documentary work that examined unconventional American communities. His supporting cast brings substantial credentials to the drama: Wever has earned two Primetime Emmy Awards across acclaimed television projects such as Nurse Jackie, Gisondo has worked regularly across major film and comedy productions, and Bridgers is an acclaimed Grammy Award winner expanding into screen acting.
