Piraeus psychologist arrested in Athens drug ring bust

Greek police have dismantled a drug trafficking network in Attica, arresting three suspects including a psychologist from Piraeus.

Investigators identified a 41-year-old man as the central figure of the operation, alleging that he had been procuring, storing, processing, and distributing narcotics across Western Attica since at least July 2026.

According to police findings, the Piraeus psychologist allegedly supplied the primary suspect with substances including MDMA, LSD, and narcotics in pill form. Piraeus is a major port city located southwest of the Greek capital.

Stash house and parcel deliveries

Authorities said the 41-year-old suspect used his home in Haidari, a town in the western Athens metropolitan area, as a storage space for the illicit drugs. Police added that he possessed specialized technical know-how for processing the substances.

Drug sales were conducted either inside his residence or at nearby locations where he traveled by vehicle. Police reported that narcotics were also shipped to buyers in packaged parcels using a transport company.

Police stated that the suspect maintained a steady customer base and took active measures to evade law enforcement. These included using a ghost phone connection and communicating through coded terms and slang expressions.

Recorded phone conversations obtained during the investigation revealed that his regular buyers included a female folk singer.

Police estimates indicate that between early July and August 23, 2026, the suspect carried out 90 drug transactions with a total value of 3,800 euros.

Police raids and seized narcotics

Officers located and arrested the 41-year-old suspect and the psychologist in separate areas of Athens on the afternoon of Thursday, August 27, 2026.

A personal search of the two men yielded a small quantity of cannabis, 445 euros in cash, and a mobile phone.

A third suspect, a 45-year-old man, was arrested under in-flagrante procedures after police caught him allegedly purchasing drugs from the main suspect.

Subsequent searches of residences and an office, conducted with the assistance of a police dog, resulted in the seizure of a wide variety of illegal drugs and equipment:

  • 834.9 grams of cannabis
  • 131.6 grams of processed cannabis of the chocolate type
  • 522.5 grams of ketamine
  • 122.7 grams of cocaine
  • 56.2 grams of MDMA
  • 39 grams of Ecstasy
  • 180 pharmaceutical pills
  • 100 cannabis candies
  • 103 grams of 3-MMC
  • 15,565 euros in cash
  • 6 precision scales
  • 2 vehicles
  • 1 motorcycle
  • Numerous handwritten notes

Police confirmed that all three arrested individuals have been led before the competent prosecutorial authority.
