Pierce Brosnan and Don Lee have joined Chris Hemsworth in the cast of Tyler Rake 3, the third film in the Netflix action franchise.
The casting additions were first reported exclusively by Deadline, confirming that five new actors are joining the ensemble for the upcoming feature.
Brosnan, a two-time Golden Globe nominee who previously played James Bond, joins the production after starring in the Netflix film The Thursday Murder Club and the SkyShowtime crime drama MobLand, which is scheduled to premiere its second season in a few weeks.
Don Lee, a prominent star of South Korean action cinema known for Train to Busan and The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil, joins the cast after signing to star in Tygo. That Korean franchise, centered on a former child soldier who becomes a mercenary, is currently in post-production.
New cast members join the action sequel
In addition to Brosnan and Lee, the third film has added Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Siena Agudong to its cast.
Taslim is one of the stars of the Hong Kong action movie The Furious and has recently appeared in the Mortal Kombat film series and the crime drama series Warrior.
Lewis-Parry, a former professional mixed martial arts fighter, plays Samson in Danny Boyle's zombie film 28 Years Later and its sequel 28 Years Later: The Temple of Bone, directed by Nia DaCosta. His recent credits also include roles in Gladiator II and The Running Man.
Agudong stars in and serves as an executive producer for the young adult film franchise Sidelined on Tubi, and will soon appear in Amazon's television adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie.
Filming location and creative team
Filming for Tyler Rake 3 is currently underway in Australia. Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani are set to co-star alongside Hemsworth in the sequel.
Director Sam Hargrave returns to direct the third entry, having previously helmed the first two installments of the saga. The screenplay is written by David Weil, based on a story by Ande Parks and the Russo brothers, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.
The executive production team includes Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa for AGBO, alongside Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson for Wild State. Additional executive producers on the project are Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter, Peter Schwerin, Shelby Malone, and Steven V. Scavelli.
Plot details and specific roles for the new cast members remain confidential. The franchise is adapted from the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks and illustrator Fernando León González, following Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, an Australian mercenary taking on high-risk rescue missions globally.
Netflix has not confirmed an official release date for Tyler Rake 3, but indications suggest the action movie will not reach streaming until 2027.
