Orthodox Christians in Ukraine are marking Medovyi Spas on August 1, a religious feast day observed according to the new calendar style.
The holiday is regarded as an occasion to remind loved ones of their importance and to wish them health, peace and prosperity, according to the publication. Typical greetings for the day express hope that the feast will bring God’s blessing, warmth and peace into the home.
Common wishes for the day include the hope that life be as sweet as fresh honey, that faith be strengthened, and that God protect families and grant them the strength to overcome difficulties. Many greetings also include a wish for peace to come to Ukraine as soon as possible.
