North West played her first sold-out solo headline concert in Chicago on Saturday as her separated parents, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, watched on.
The 13-year-old took the stage at The Vic Theatre, a historic music venue on Chicago's North Side, to perform her first solo concert as the main attraction. The sold-out performance came a few months after the release of North's debut EP, marking an important step forward in her developing music career.
Kardashian, 45, and West, 49, both attended The Vic Theatre to support their eldest daughter, but the former couple remained in different areas of the venue throughout the evening.
Kardashian watched the performance from a VIP area of the theater, while West viewed the show from a separate section accompanied by friends. Videos recorded by audience members and shared on social media showed the pair watching independently, without any apparent interaction between them.
West was filmed holding up his mobile phone to record his daughter while watching from his section of the venue. Kardashian also shared video footage of the performance directly to her Instagram stories.
Kanye West and the Chicago connection
The choice of Chicago for the solo concert held special significance for the family, as the city is West's hometown. The 49-year-old rapper had just completed two headline concerts at Chicago's Soldier Field stadium during the same weekend before attending his daughter's performance.
West has long been one of hip-hop's most prominent figures, having launched his career in Chicago before achieving worldwide success as a recording artist and producer. Kardashian rose to international fame through reality television and commercial ventures. The couple were married for about eight years before finalizing their divorce in 2022.
In addition to North, Kardashian and West have three younger children together: Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7. Both parents made a point of being present in person on Saturday to support their daughter's solo stage debut.
Debut EP and the Kimokawaii Tour
North's headline appearance followed the release of her debut EP, titled N0rth4evr, which arrived on May 1. An extended play, or EP, is a musical release that contains more music than a standalone single but fewer tracks than a full album. The six-track collection runs for approximately 11 minutes, marking North's first structured musical project.
The EP arrived after a series of earlier musical releases and collaborations, consolidating a phase in which the teenager began writing and presenting her own material as an independent artist.
North had previously planned to embark on a concert tour alongside rapper Molly Santana, titled the Kimokawaii Tour, but those dates were cancelled. Despite the cancellation of the joint tour, North maintained her commitment to her music and pressed forward with staging the headline performance in Chicago.
