Nancy Cartwright, the actress known for voicing Bart in The Simpsons, appeared as a guest on the Inside of You podcast and shared when she believes the iconic show will end.
Cartwright said she is confident that the show's 40th season will be its last. Fox has currently renewed the project through exactly that many seasons, though the show's creators have not said when it will conclude.
New season and film details
The premiere of the 38th season is set for September. Since The Simpsons releases new seasons annually, that timeline suggests the show could end as early as 2028.
The Simpsons debuted in 1989 and is still airing new episodes. Over 37 years, the show has aired 800 episodes, making it the longest-running Western animated series in history. A feature film based on the show, The Simpsons Movie, was released in 2007, and a second film set in the franchise's universe is scheduled for worldwide release in September 2027.
