Russian pop singer Monetochka, real name Elizaveta Gyrdymova, experienced a decline of nearly 50 percent in her concert revenue during 2025 despite playing a larger number of live shows abroad, according to a report by the Telegram news outlet Baza.
Financial records registered in Lithuania for her business entity, Monetochka MB, show that the company brought in 560,800 euros, equivalent to approximately 56 million rubles, in 2024. In 2025, total revenue fell to 285,500 euros, or roughly 27.5 million rubles, even though her schedule of international concerts increased from 27 performances to 36.
Baza reported that the firm incurred substantial expenses to stage the expanded tour schedule, spending around 64 million rubles on show production and organization. The company also remitted 8 million rubles in tax payments during the period.
Gyrdymova, a popular singer and songwriter who built a major following in Russia in the late 2010s with satirical indie pop tracks, left the country following the invasion of Ukraine. Russia's Ministry of Justice subsequently placed her on its official register of foreign agents, a designation applied to activists, journalists and cultural figures critical of government policy.
Like many exiled Russian artists and public figures, Gyrdymova relocated her administrative operations to Lithuania, a Baltic state that has become a key center for displaced Russian opposition voices, media organizations and performers operating in Western Europe.
Movie soundtrack omission
The financial figures follow earlier reports regarding the exclusion of her track Monopoly from Russian cinema screenings of the superhero film Spider-Man: A New Day. In the international release of the movie, the song plays during a scene where the main character, played by English actor Tom Holland, visits an apartment in the city.
Audiences watching the movie in Russian theaters heard a modified soundtrack, with Monetochka's vocals replaced by a wordless instrumental melody in the background.
Addressing the removal, Gyrdymova acknowledged that she had not expected any other outcome given her political status. She stated that while she could not explain her emotional response, she unexpectedly experienced feelings of sadness and pain upon discovering that her music had been cut from the domestic release.
Emigre artist challenges
The foreign agent classification in Russia carries legal restrictions that severely limit commercial opportunities within the country, including bans on streaming royalties, broadcasting and public performance fees. As a result, artists who relocated abroad have had to rely primarily on live touring for audiences within European and international diaspora communities.
