Russian tourists will travel to Mexico in large numbers if direct flights resume, Tez Tour commercial director Voskan Arzumanov told the National News Service.
Arzumanov noted that the number of tourists depends directly on the accessibility of a destination. The more frequently planes fly, the lower ticket prices become, he explained, adding that Mexico's hotel base is fully sufficient to receive tourists. Arzumanov said the lack of a direct flight program is currently the only reason Mexico does not have a mass tourist flow from Russia.
Flight Costs and Negotiations
An average check for a trip to Mexico with a connection currently comes out more expensive than a vacation to the Maldives, costing around 300,000 rubles, according to Arzumanov. He expressed belief that Russians will travel to the Central American nation en masse if direct flights are restored, because tickets and accommodation will prove cheaper in that case.
Russia previously declared its readiness to resume direct air service with Mexico. However, substantive negotiations regarding the launch of direct flights between the two countries are not currently being conducted.
