Marvel Studios is developing between three and five new live-action television series for Disney+, including a spy thriller codenamed Zodiac.
According to a report published by US entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, the spy project is currently in active development for the streaming platform. Specific narrative details remain undisclosed, and it is not yet confirmed whether the project title connects directly to Marvel Comics storyline continuity.
In Marvel Comics lore, Zodiac is a criminal organization led by the supervillain Scorpio, whose operatives correspond to the twelve astrological signs of the zodiac. The syndicate has historically clashed with the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D. in classic comic storylines, establishing a foundation in Marvel history that could shape the proposed series.
Marvel Studios, owned by The Walt Disney Company, produces the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. The shared universe spans feature films and streaming series hosted on Disney+, which serves as the primary home for Marvel television content.
Daredevil Born Again final season
The active development of new streaming projects comes as Marvel Studios prepares to conclude Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that the television series starring British actor Charlie Cox will end after its third season, which is scheduled to premiere in March 2027.
The third season will mark the final television installment for the vigilante character within this phase of Marvel Studios television productions. Actress Elodie Yung will reprise her role as Elektra in the final batch of episodes.
Cox plays Matt Murdock, a blind attorney based in New York City who fights crime as Daredevil in the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen. The actor originally starred in three seasons of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix before Marvel Studios reacquired the live-action rights and integrated the character into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.
Yung joined the original Netflix production during its second season as Elektra Natchios, a trained assassin and long-time associate of Murdock. Her return for the third season of Daredevil: Born Again will bring closure to the character's storyline alongside Cox.
Avengers movie releases and Vision Quest
Marvel Studios is also preparing several high-profile theatrical and television releases as part of its upcoming production slate.
Fewer than 100 days remain until the next Avengers feature film opens in cinemas worldwide. The crossover movie features actor Robert Downey Jr returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new role as the villain Doctor Doom.
Downey previously anchored the franchise for over a decade as industrialist Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, culminating in the 2019 blockbuster Avengers: Endgame. Doctor Doom, traditionally depicted as Victor von Doom, is a primary adversary of both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers in comic book continuity.
Ahead of a major film release on 18 December, Marvel Studios will re-release Avengers: Endgame in theaters at the end of September 2026.
On television, Marvel Studios is also launching the series Vision Quest. The upcoming production was recently featured on the front cover of British science fiction magazine SFX Magazine.
Marvel Studios 2028 film schedule
Beyond its upcoming television lineup, Marvel Studios is planning to release up to three feature films in theaters during 2028.
