Photographer Marina Vernikos pulled a lagocephalus fish out of the sea and posted a video on her personal Instagram account to inform the public about its presence on coasts. She appeared in a swimsuit immediately after exiting the water to reassure swimmers that staying calm is essential.
Vernikos said in the video that there is no reason for people to be afraid or avoid the sea. She advised swimmers who spot a lagocephalus not to touch it with bare hands, disturb it, or eat it. Instead, she said people should watch the fish from a distance and continue swimming normally.
Vernikos emphasized that people do not need to refrain from swimming. She stated that swimmers only need to follow basic rules on maintaining distance and avoid direct contact or attempts to touch the fish.
