American actress Lin Shaye will visit Lima as part of a promotional tour for the release of the horror film sequel Insidious: They Are Among Us.
Distributor Sony Pictures announced in a statement that Peru will be the only international stop on the actress's tour outside the United States, underscoring the South American nation's role in the global rollout for the movie.
In a video message sent to the press by Sony Pictures, Shaye greeted fans in Peru and said she was finally able to share exciting news about her upcoming visit. The actress stated that she would arrive in the Peruvian capital very soon to celebrate the premiere and said she was eager to meet audiences in person.

The new film, directed by Jacob Chase, is scheduled to open in Peruvian cinemas on August 20, 2026. Shaye, who is widely recognised as a scream queen for her memorable roles in high-grossing horror movies, will take part in promotional events ahead of the theatrical debut.
Shaye has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades in film and television. In the Insidious franchise, she plays the psychic medium Elise Rainier, a central character who connects the supernatural events across the series.
Origins of the Insidious franchise
The history of Rainier and the Lambert family dates back to the original 2010 film Insidious, directed by James Wan. Wan had previously directed another major horror hit, The Conjuring, before launching the new franchise with writer Leigh Whannell, who gained prominence as the creator of the Saw horror series.
The inaugural film starred Patrick Wilson as Josh Lambert in a narrative that begins when a married couple moves into a new home and suffers a family tragedy. The prequel stars Stefanie Scott as teenager Quinn Brenner, who seeks the assistance of the psychic Elise after believing her deceased mother is trying to contact her.
That installment expanded the mythology of The Further, a dark supernatural realm inhabited by malevolent entities with dangerous powers. The mysterious dimension has served as a core element of the franchise's overarching story.
