About two weeks ago, European Union countries, England, USA and Canada closed their airspaces to Russian planes. And on March 5, the largest Russian airline Aeroflot announced the suspension of international flights. The only exception would be the Republic of Belarus.
Therefore, now, travel in Russia has become more important than ever. And no, this is no reason to be upset. In our country there are many interesting and beautiful cities with a rich history and picturesque nature. We’re talking about them.
By the way, exactly 76 years ago, on April 7, 1946, the Koenigsberg region was created as part of the RSFSR. On this occasion, we have collected 10 places in Russia that we plan to go ourselves.

Incredibly picturesque place: on the one hand the sea, on the other – the bay. If you think there is nothing to do on the Curonian Spit in winter, you are wrong! The winter of the Baltic Sea, but in our opinion, even more beautiful than summer. And by the way, there are much less people in the winter season. Therefore, unity with nature is guaranteed.

If you decide to go to Yekaterinburg, be sure to check out the Shartash stone tents. These are 12-meter rocks of an unusual shape, which are considered a natural monument and one of the most picturesque places in Yekaterinburg. And personally, it reminds us of where the wizard Merlin from Shrek lives.
And do not forget about the cultural center, named after the first Russian President Boris Yeltsin. One of the main objects of the center is the museum of the political history of Russia and the personality of Yeltsin. But don’t think that’s the only thing this place is popular for. Now there are exhibitions of contemporary art, film screenings and conferences on various topics. And it was at the Yeltsin Center that the Gosha Rubchinsky autumn-winter 2018 show was held.
sochi

An ideal option for lovers of outdoor activities: in Sochi in winter, the peak of the ski season! And even if you are far from sports, there is enough fun here: for example, the Rose Peak observation deck with steep views and high-altitude swings, or the Husky Park for animal lovers.

It is worth going to the Crimea, at least to admire nature. If you want photos in the style of the Jacquemus spring-summer 2020 show, be sure to visit the Lavender field in the village of Turgenevka. We also advise you to go to Pink Lake, walk along the suspension bridge on Mount Ai-Petri and visit its most romantic place, the Goblet of Love lagoon.
Vyborg

Vyborg is our little piece of Scandinavia that becomes truly magical in winter. Medieval atmosphere, cobbled streets and European architecture – this is what tourists go to a small city in the Leningrad region. If you wish, you can see the city in one day. By the way, if you are going to Vyborg, you should definitely try the local branded bagels.
plyo

Artist Isaac Levitan lived and worked in this small town of 2000 people. Plyos’ nature inspired him to paint many pictures. Tourists go to the northern corner of the Ivanovo region precisely for the historical atmosphere. And in winter, you should go there at least to admire the view from the snow-covered river embankment, walk through the atmospheric streets and look at the Levitan Museum.
Baikal

“It’s incredible, and it’s not for nothing that Siberians call it the sea, not the lake. Water is unusually transparent so one can see through it as well as through air. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov wrote very poetically about Baikal, one of the main natural attractions of our country. Tourists from all over the world come there, films are shot there (one of the latest is “Ice”), and the director of “Titanic” and “Avatar” James Cameron somehow celebrated his birthday on Baikal.
In winter, the water is covered with a thick layer of ice and forms these very famous cracks, in spring Baikal turns a deep blue and in summer the holiday season opens on the lake. Everyone should visit at least once in their life the huge water crescent that separates the Irkutsk region and Buryatia.

You can plunge into the mysterious atmosphere of the Middle Ages by visiting a small village in the Pechora district of the Pskov region. There is also the Izborsk castle, which we recommend everyone who comes to this city to visit.
Geyser Valley in Kamchatka

One of the main natural attractions of the Kamchatka Territory. There are hot springs, mud pots, waterfalls and many picturesque lakes scattered throughout the Geysernaya River canyon.
Teriberka, Murmansk region

It’s worth flying to Teriberka to see the Barents Sea and the Northern Lights, and to try crabs, red fish and sea urchins. This is a border village 1973 kilometers from Moscow and 120 kilometers from Murmansk (the nearest major city), accessible by car, the last 40 kilometers of which is a broken dirt road. But it’s worth it: Teriberka and its surroundings have unrealistic landscapes, waterfalls, cliffs and views of the Arctic Ocean!
