The Glastonbury Festival is one of the biggest music concerts in the world, not to mention the UK.

About 200,000 people flocked to a Somerset camp to enjoy the biggest names in the industry, including Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney.

It will be a festival to remember, unless you drink too much while you’re at it.

We all like to take care of ourselves during breaks, but this often has unwanted side effects.

As we get older, hangovers get worse, so any tips or tricks that can be used to combat them are more than welcome.

Fortunately, a study has been conducted to determine how we can achieve this.

The study was conducted by alarming who collaborated with Dr. Deborah Lee.

1,500 drinkers took part in the survey, which resulted in consistent tips you can use to avoid a hangover at festivals or deal with it in the morning.

How to avoid the festival hangover

Mixing drinks is one of the easiest ways to avoid a hangover tomorrow morning.

Your first line of defense is to avoid a hangover in the first place, and while nothing is guaranteed, keeping these tips in mind could make all the difference.

These include:

  • Drink responsibly and stay within the recommended limits.
  • Never drink on an empty stomach, always drink with food. Eating fatty foods can help slow the absorption of alcohol.
  • Drink lots of water: Drink a glass of water for each alcoholic drink.
  • Sip slowly and savor your drinks. This will help you drink less overall.
  • Say no to fizzy drinks as the bubbles speed up the absorption of alcohol.
  • Avoid dark-colored drinks, such as dark liqueurs and red wine, as they often contain large amounts of congeners, substances produced during the fermentation process.
  • Don’t mix your drinks

How to handle a festival hangover

Smoking can make a hangover worse than people who avoid it

Of course, sometimes, no matter how hard we try to hold back, once the alcohol starts flowing, every drop is more likely to cause a hangover.

However, there are a few tricks in this scenario, including:

  • Drink a bottle of water before bed and as soon as you wake up.
  • Take Dioralyte sachets as they contain electrolytes and can help restore electrolyte balance faster.
  • Eat a good breakfast to raise blood sugar levels.
  • Think carefully about coffee, as caffeine could make your headache worse.
  • Make sure you get enough sleep after drinking.
  • Get some fresh air and take a quick walk.
  • Don’t smoke: Smokers tend to have more severe hangovers than non-smokers.
