The 41-year-old actor shared his thoughts about his participation in the film, recalling his experience in the film in 2016. In an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Jesse Eisenberg openly admitted that audiences received him very badly for his role as Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to Variety, the film grossed $874 million (90 billion rubles – Note ed.). But because reviews were mixed, Eisenberg said it negatively affected his career.
“I did a Batman movie and it was very poorly received, and I was very poorly received. “I’ve never said this before and I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but I honestly think it’s really hurt my career because I’ve been received so publicly poorly,” Jesse said. He added: “If you’re in a movie that’s huge in the industry and you’re not good, people who are choosing who to put in their movie next aren’t going to choose you.”
The actor said that the way the film was received touched him personally: “I liked my role, I liked the movie, the acting and everything. So I feel like I’m the only one to blame. I don’t think they treated me wrong. NO. “I’m thinking, ‘Oh, I must have done something wrong,'” he said, describing the situation as “depressing.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, Jesse Eisenberg talked about his latest project, True Hurt, which he wrote, directed, and stars in. In the film, Jesse plays David opposite Kieran Culkin, who appears as Benji.
