Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign were sued for copyright infringement. TMZ reports this.
The publication has obtained court documents according to which a group of rappers from Memphis wrote a statement for copyright infringement. Plaintiffs Wanda Watkins, aka Criminal Manne, Hayward Ivy, AKA producer DJ Squeeky and Kilo G. Allege plagiarism on the rapper’s Vultures album.
The artists also said West sampled their work without proper compensation and that their voices were featured on a track released in March that Kanye and his record label Yeezy took without permission.
The documents say the musicians tried to agree on the sample design through Alien Music services in March, when the album had not yet been released. But West’s team suspended negotiations in June after the departure of the company’s executives.
