Is it necessary to have sex “for health”: pros and cons

Is it necessary to have sex “for health”: pros and cons

“Everything you do in bed is wonderful and absolutely right. As long as both of you enjoy it,” said Sigmund Freud. And it’s hard to argue with his words. True, in interpersonal relationships, not everything goes well, and there comes a time when sex disappears from our lives for a while. It is believed that sex is not only a source of pleasure, but also a guarantee of health, including reproductive organs.

Is it true that sex is good for you? What influences the different perceptions of gender between men and women? So what to do if there is no sexual partner?

Sexologist Alexandra Miller answered these questions exclusively for The Fashion Vibes.

What happens to the bodies of those who refuse to have sex?

Sex with feelings and emotions is very different from sex “for health”. Even staunch skeptics want to fall in love to experience this hormonal surge. Sex for health does not provide the same oxytocin, dopamine and adrenaline as sex for love. It is more like going to the gym and doing a good cardio workout. The importance of sex in life is greatly underestimated and will soon become “out of fashion” with the advent of feminism.

The phrase “not today: I have a headache” was coined by those who didn’t know that sex has miraculous pain-relieving powers by blocking pain signals in the brain. The effect is comparable to taking a lot of painkillers.

Why is sex good for your health?

For women’s self-esteem, the quality of women’s health and even elastic, radiant skin, sex is a necessary thing that cannot be replaced by going to the gym or raising cute cats.

Regular sex is also essential for men’s health, because only active, regular sex life reduces the risk of prostatitis, cardiovascular disease and overeating. Sex life also helps to increase concentration, reduce anxiety, normalize sleep quality and even strengthen the immune system. You could say that sex is “a pill for many diseases.”

How do attitudes toward gender differ between men and women?

It is worth understanding that men and women perceive sex differently. During sex, a large amount of oxytocin is released in the female body, which participates in the formation of love, calmness and trust. A woman begins to subconsciously invest emotionally in the relationship and perceives her partner as a potential father of her children, even if it is a fleeting love.

A man’s body produces small amounts of oxytocin as well as dopamine (the pleasure hormone). This means that if he liked everything, he will only want to repeat the pleasant sensations.

If you know this, women will not rush into intimate relationships so quickly without checking the emotions of the chosen one. Otherwise, there is a high probability that you will fall into a trap: a man who is not emotionally interested may enjoy sex, but after sex he may disappear and not even remember your name.

The trick is that most men are afraid of ruining the first impression and therefore rarely call back to continue the relationship. After all, there is no commitment and pleasure can be found anywhere. Many couples fail to build a strong relationship after a one-night stand. Often men choose more solid individuals as their life partners. Therefore, you should not think about why the man does not write and open your heart before getting to know him better.

Often, a girl tries to prove her interest through sexual relations. Not receiving an enthusiastic response, anger and despair begin. Self-esteem decreases, as the partner’s indifference means “I was not chosen.” Hence, undesirable consequences for the psyche arise in the form of decreased concentration, failure at work, deterioration in academic performance, and, finally, depression.

You can avoid negative consequences by setting priorities correctly and restraining your momentary desires and weaknesses.

What’s wrong with refusing to have sex?

Since the reproductive function is a natural life process, the refusal of sex for a long time is fraught with premature aging of the body. Limiting ourselves to pleasure, we send a signal to the brain that it is not necessary to be young, healthy and attractive. Without an active sex life, the tone of the whole body decreases, and with it stress resistance. It is more difficult to cope with a bad mood at work, as cortisol (stress hormone) accumulates in the body.

Is it worth looking for a sexual partner “for health”?

Finding a suitable sexual partner is not always possible. How can this happen? First of all, you do not need to look for the first person you meet to “improve your health”. In sex, quality is more important than quantity. Suspicious partners can pose a threat not only to physical health but also to psychological health. Narcissists and psychopaths can seriously undermine self-esteem with backhanded compliments.

The problem with modern society is that people are becoming more closed: we know less and less about each other and are afraid of difficulties in relationships. Sometimes it seems easier to refuse sex altogether or to be with a known lover, even if you know that such a relationship will not last. This approach is both a waste of time and makes it impossible to meet the right person.

Meet, fall in love, create an emotionally secure relationship, then sex will be a great bonus!
