A young woman sparked a heated debate online after she revealed she never knew whether to use hot or cold air to defog her windshield.
Melbourne woman Kayla Jackson posted a video on TikTok trying to fix the problem, but hours after the fierce discussion she was more confused than ever.
More than 1.2 million people watched the video, which received more than 100,000 likes, but only a thousand of them dared to share their opinion.

Some people swear that using cold air is the best method.
“Always cool air to release faster so you can slowly increase the heat, but make sure there’s still air blowing through the windshield,” one woman said.
But many did not agree
”Use the defrost setting, turn on the heating and press the air conditioner button. I don’t know why it works, but it does.’
Others had various and less useful options.
It seems like Kayla isn’t the only one confused about this – others admit they’ve tried everything every time.
“I just rub it with my hand,” one man said.
Although some say they feel hot and cold.
“I press all the buttons until something works,” one woman said.
“Same: I’ll shoot in any mode until it’s fixed,” said another.
As others admit, they panicked when the windows fog up.
“If it doesn’t work I will stop and open all windows,” he wrote.
“I didn’t have to deal with anything, my panic when it started to get foggy,” one mother wrote.
But some have found that it doesn’t matter what temperature it’s set to as long as the A/C is on and the air is coming from outside the car.
‘It does not matter! Make sure the A/C is on and the defrost button is on and set it to your desired temperature,” one man said.
Although others have said it “depends on the day”.
“Your windshield needs to match the outside temperature to defog,” one woman said.
