The year is coming to an end, which means it’s time to summarize the results. We recommend starting with the restaurants Muscovites frequented throughout 2023. Moreover, there is a reason for these results – on November 9, the winners of the WHERETOEAT Moscow restaurant award were announced.
He announced not only the best restaurants but also the chefs of the year. This time, the nomination went to the duo Vitaly Istomin and Artem Losev, who worked together on the projects Ava, Loona, Narnia and Patriki. It was also voted the best bar in the city; this was Japan’s Butler The Japan Bar, which also received the same nomination two years ago. However, according to the media, the best restaurant was the Peruvian Olluco, run by chef Nicanor Veira. But we will come back to this later in this article.

Maya is a restaurant inspired by primitive culture, so do not be surprised by the presence of ethnographic objects in the interior. Under the leadership of Australian chef Thomas Halpin, dishes are prepared over fire using ancient techniques and traditions. For example, suckling lamb is cooked for eight hours on a metal crucifix and served with chimichurri sauce, and the first phalanx of the crab is smoked over rosemary sprigs.

Sage is the favorite place of all girls in Moscow, because the interior here is the key to ideal content for the banned social network. Although the menu deserves special attention. The concept of the kitchen is comfort food, but the usual khachapuri and khinkali are not on the menu. They prepare national dishes with the addition of non-traditional ingredients.

Loona is known and loved by many for the city’s most photogenic desserts and famous wood-fired pizzas. By the way, they are prepared not only with regular dough, but also with keto dough made from cauliflower and almonds. Let us tell you a secret, Peru Olluco is one of the most mysterious restaurants in the city. And all this for some reason it is not customary to talk about this cuisine in Moscow. So, if you didn’t know about Peruvian cuisine in the capital before, definitely go there and try everything. Moreover, Nicanor Veira is responsible for this – the right-hand man of chef Virgilio Martinez, who heads the kitchen of the Peruvian restaurant Central, considered the best in the world according to the international award 50 Best Restaurants in the World.
