The unfortunate experience of the victims of Simon Leviev (aka Tinder scammer) should have taught all girls one thing: never trust guys who look too perfect on dating apps. It seems that after this, all the men on dating sites who, mystically, had imaginary jobs related to international logistics and villas abroad, must have found themselves on a desert island. But in the real world, unfortunately, everything happened the other way around. And the most famous crook cult of modern times has served as a catalyst for the emergence of hundreds of thousands more of his followers.
Recently, a friend of mine, whom we haven’t seen in over five years, recorded a strange voicemail in the middle of the night. In three minutes, I found out that she had disappointed all the men, downloaded Tinder for herself, and then met a man there who cheated on her for 200 thousand rubles. Of course, the first thing that comes to my mind in the morning is “why did he tell me that?”
The scam plan this man gave me sounded very banal, if not rudely told. They met for about five months, and it all started well: dinners in trendy restaurants, weekends in country hotels, fortnightly flowers. And then the bells began to appear. The first yellow card looked like this: “We will not meet today, I urgently flew to my hometown of St. Petersburg, my grandmother’s house burned down, we are collecting money with the whole family.” My friend, being completely competent and understanding, sent him 20 grand with the words “don’t come back, everything will be fine for my grandma”. He promised to return the money, but it was more of a gesture of goodwill. Then my grandmother needed an operation, followed by recovery. And so in two months he threw another 30 thousand at him.

Then had to take the car to MOT (maintenance). The man took this care upon himself, but implied that he had to pay for everything himself. For example, now he spent all the money on a new flat for his grandmother, but he doesn’t want to wait in the car because he is worried about his girlfriend’s safety. So he gave her the car keys and a hundred thousand rubles – that was the price his very close friend had set, and even at a supposedly good discount. It’s easy to guess how the story ends – the man disappeared like his money, and the car was already on the wanted list. All correspondence in Telegram has been deleted, the number is unavailable and pages in social networks are absent.
He doesn’t know what to do now, and to be honest, I don’t quite understand how to help him either. When she took her statement to the police, the response from the staff was brief: “We will try our best, but most likely this person is absolutely absent.” By the way, there also it was said that the victims of such “non-existent” boyfriends turned to them almost every week, and subtly implied that the man should be sought “in the garden, not in the round dance.”
Unfortunately, dating sites have more than enough stories of scammed girls so far. Therefore, in order to avoid such situations, we decided to collect five popular schemes in which real girls believe and lose several thousand rubles instead of a man.
Let’s help the cats together.

Alina, 29 years old
I met a guy on Badoo. It looks very good – an expensive car, all silver rings and beautiful things. It all started like normal people: cinema, restaurants, hotels in the center of Moscow. He spoke very little about himself. According to him, he had almost no friends and only family members helped me at work, of course, he was in no hurry to introduce me to them. After about two months of intercourse, my ears started getting noodles. Either his card was blocked and he had to somehow close the account at the restaurant, then “no cash” and at the flower shop they wouldn’t accept a card for a bouquet for his mother. In general, I have already spent about 15 thousand rubles for such small expenses.
But the real “fun” started when she suddenly decided to do charity work. One day he comes and says, “Listen, do you like animals? Here, my little sister and I decided to create an animal welfare fund in memory of her dead cat. You work in public relations, I wish you could promote all this. Well, I agree without malice. He actually sent me a website called “Umka” like a kitten. I hire SMM to build social networks with my own money and post everything on my Instagram account (considered extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). note. ed.) to distribute and help at the call of friends.
The next day the man disappeared as if he never existed, and the site stopped working after a few weeks. The Umka Foundation and this kitten it’s named after is just a fantasy of my ex-boyfriend. I don’t know anything about his fate, but I hope karma has already punished him.
there is only one subject

Ksenia, 26 years old
When attempts to fall in love once and for all failed the tenth time, it was decided to take down Tinder. Surprisingly, I’ve only heard positive things about him. What can I say, even my mother, who was already over 40, found a husband there. Just having fun, I thought. We played a match with Artur on the first day. If you can judge a man from a photograph, I’ll say this – he was completely ordinary, obviously not Brad Pitt. It turns out we live nearby, so we went for coffee the very next day. First impression is only positive. He is somewhat modest, decent and, as he says about himself, “hardworking”. whatever that means.
We started dating, but we didn’t have a candy-bouquet period. They always stayed at my house and sometimes went to the movies together from time to time. The rest of the time he disappeared with his friends – he said they worked together on some kind of business. In general, the guy was really busy.
All the “comedy” started in May, shortly before my birthday. During this time, Arthur disappeared for two weeks, leaving me alone on a vacation. After a while he appeared, crawling on his knees and begging for forgiveness. He said he and his friend were pressed for attention by some bandits. As if in all seriousness in the trunk they took him into the forest and tied him to a tree with ropes. Therefore, he apparently walked home for two weeks. Of course, I believed this nonsense. I see you being beaten all over, scared. I did not expect a gift from Arthur, and he blamed the fact that all the money in the forest was taken from him. Besides. He comes up to me one day and says, “Listen, there’s only one thing here, maybe you and I can be business partners?” I thought why not. My job was boring and monotonous, underpaid. So it really didn’t take long for the answer to come. The business was connected with the buyback of cars. And of course the first installment was from me.
At the time, I had $300,000 in my savings account. Needless to say, after I sent him to the bank to withdraw money, no one saw him again.

Vera, 23 years old
I lost my mother last year and it was the hardest time for me. Then I was still in a morbid relationship that lasted a little over a year, but I wasn’t ready to break up. During our last fight, instead of crying on my pillow, I decided to download a dating app without any ulterior motives. There we met Gleb.
We started talking and soon I told him that I have a boyfriend, but everything is difficult with him. Gleb started pushing me to the point where I finally needed to get out of this sick relationship. Besides, I was already falling in love with him at that moment. We broke up with the guy, and a month later Gleb began to rent an apartment for me.
In general, our family did not have their own real estate in Moscow. From my mother I left two apartments in Saratov, which I will definitely not live in. When Gleb found out about this, he offered to sell one of them and invest in housing under construction outside the Moscow Ring Road. He carried out all transactions for the purchase and sale of apartments. But it ended with the documents he brought me completely fake and the lack of the housing complex where I allegedly bought an apartment.
harmless boy

Liana, 34 years old
There are guys I call harmless. They will not break you in any way, they will not leave any psychological trauma in your life. Overall, a great option to get away from the hustle and bustle. We met one of these on Tinder last summer. A very positive impression was formed from her photos – she wears expensive brands, goes to fashionable places. We met for coffee, then the walk smoothly turned into dinner. Even then it became clear to me that he was a noble ******** (liar). note. ed.).). And he studied there and worked there – in general, I wanted to ask what you are doing here then. But I deftly pretended not to notice anything and believed his every word.
So we talked for another month. And then a tangible divorce for money began. Not only were his cards constantly blocked, so I always paid in taxis and restaurants, but he also began to circulate me to all his relatives, who only accepted the money as a gift. In general, all this took another month. The total for this time on the map was minus 150 thousand.
I’m the director with my mother

Tasya, 25 years old
My ex-boyfriend and I met on a dating app. Then I was 21 and I wanted some kind of adventure. I slid men only on the principle of “beautiful or not”. We met Pasha a week later. Of course it was very sexy. That’s why we slept with him on the first meeting. As expected, the relationship began to develop very quickly. We spent a lot of time together and it seemed like there might even be a continuation of this story.
One evening he threw a file at me “in the car”. I open it and there is a video of us having sex. Looks like this idiot filmed the whole thing without my knowledge. “300k and I am deleting this video. Or I make a newsletter to all your friends and subscribers. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. The first thing I thought about was what my family would say. But I was afraid to talk to them. The first thing I rushed to the police, I wrote a statement in which I drew everything in detail. As a result, this freak was given a suspended sentence for extortion and also paid me compensation.
How not to fall for the tricks of scammers?
Do not transfer funds under any circumstances. Getting involved in another person’s financial problems is a clear sign of cheating.
Don’t believe his big promises on the first date.
Do not give out your personal number on the first day you meet.
If possible, find the man’s pages on other social networks to make sure he is not impersonating someone else.
Do not click on suspicious links he sends in correspondence.
