People working in the service industry uncovered customer behaviors that left them cold in a very enlightening online discussion.
A woman from England attended the mumsnet parenting forum to ask if others had had bad experiences with rude customers in the hospitality and retail industries.
In her post, the woman summed up her frustrations when dealing with annoying customers, from people who booked a table for six and then showed up in larger groups, to people sitting at unset tables and complaining about a lack of cutlery.
Others have shared their frustrations with people who changed the delivery date of a perishable product and then complained that it no longer worked, or said they expected something “larger” when the dimensions were clearly stated.
The poster opened the discussion with the text: ‘A little carefree. What kinds of things are customers working in the hospitality/retail industry doing that really bothers you while you’re at work?’
“What do customers do that really bothers you while you’re at work?” one hospitality employee asked.

The UK-based woman took to the Mumsnet parenting forum to ask if others had bad experiences with rude customers.
He started joking about people booking tables for six, and then said, “I hope it’s good that we’re a group of 194 now.”
“Sitting at dirty/messy/cleaned tables when they are literally clean and have tables lined up next to them,” he continued. “Then complain about the absence of cutlery.
‘Buy the cheapest pint, let’s say straight/not tasty, then swap it for the more expensive pint.
“Get a menu of allergens and then ‘do you just do this?’ say. No, that’s all we do GLUTEN FREE. At the top !!!!!!!!! ‘ he is writing

A series of thread comments shared annoying customer stories.
One person wrote: “We went in and sat in a dark corner of the restaurant and now we are angry at you for not coming to take our order.
“A woman once yelled at me and said I was going to get lung cancer because there was a slightly smoky plate on the table next to her.”
Another shared: “As a party of eight, I booked a table for four. I didn’t think they should have said they had four children. I lost their shit when I said I didn’t have a table for eight.
Another said he was annoyed that people “don’t have to wait” to be late by pre-ordering and complain that “everything is cold”.
Another woman was furious when she shared a list of annoying examples, including “Sitting at the only dirty table in the place and whining because it’s dirty.”
“When you come and sit at a table, you clean all your stuff and sprinkle water on it, so you have to bend over and clean around it. Rude b*****ds, why can’t they wait two minutes for you to finish?

Another example is people who don’t know how to shop online and don’t read the product description and then complain.
“As we were balancing three or four plates and baskets, ‘Oh, you forgot our bowl of chips and lasagna!’ they say.
‘No, I did not! I’m not just dealing with octopus!
“When you have heavy plates that burn the skin of your fingers and you’re like, ‘Do you have a mixed grill, boneless basket, and medium sirloin? and everybody sits down and looks at you.
“People laugh at you for politely explaining that it’s company policy not to allow dogs and that you should stand there for ten minutes while arguing with you, and then they laugh at you when they curse and announce that they’re doing their part before letting you go.” The bad woman clearly hates Fido! “
Another example is people who do not know how to shop online and read the product description and complain.
“For example, the customer buys a pack of three and complains that he expects more and only gets three things.
Or the dimensions are clearly stated as 5 inches x 4 inches and the customer complains that they expect it to be larger.
He continued: “Customer purchases a perishable item shipped via standard 24-hour courier service and then uses the delivery options in the tracking link to reschedule delivery to be on the road for one week.
“The customer complains that the product they received as a gift is now late for their birthday or sometimes too early. The client never chose a specific delivery date, but seems to expect the company to be precise and know when his partner’s birthday is. “
The original poster added that people seem to miss out on simple ways like saying “hello”.
Me: “Hello, how are you” Customer: “I’ll have a fish and chips and a large Diet Coke, table 7. Thanks” KABA. at least say hi????
“Another is if parents bring snacks like chips/cake/raisins for their little ones and then leave them TOTALLY ON THE PLACE.”

Rude: The original poster added that people miss out on simple ways like saying “hello.”
