A woman who has been in a relationship for six years explained that she has “never slept in the same bed” with her partner because she “likes to rest”.
Luana Ribeira, 40, from Anglesey, North Wales, gets up in the middle of the night to work in her public relations business and won’t let her 37-year-old partner, Alex Meyer, sleep in her bed.
She says all couples should sleep in separate bedrooms “to make sure they’re well rested” because it causes fatigue. “Grumpiness and less patience with your partner.”
Professional PR for writing Insider said separate sleeping areas benefited both their personal and professional lives.
Luana Ribeira, 40, from Anglesey, North Wales, and her partner, Alex Meyer, 37, have been together for six years but never slept in the same bedroom.
He explained that his “creative golden hour” is usually at 2 am, so he likes to get up and work in the PR business.
“When I said I wanted my space in my previous relationships, it wasn’t well received,” she explains.
“I heard music when I heard that Alex wasn’t offended and that he wanted his own space.”
“We are almost always well equipped. It sounds simple but I know from experience and friends that this is not always the case when sharing a bedroom.
The mother of three said the date made her “excited” to see Alex every morning.
The couple wasn’t sure their deal would work out when they welcomed their little Celyn.
But because Luana is ‘suitable’ for night feeding and Alex wakes up early with the baby, they discovered a system that worked for them.
It also recommends separate rooms for all couples as they are “almost always well equipped”.
Lunana now has 10-year-old Electra and 11-year-old Seren children with her ex-husband James.
In 2020, Luana revealed how she left her home and moved to Portugal to be with Alex, who is actually her ex-husband’s best friend.
She has decided to leave her three-bedroom single family home and live in a “muddy” ditch with Alex.
They built the house in a plastic tunnel and lived without electricity or running water for several months, during which time he was able to find the clarity and motivation he needed to speed up his life.
She found love in the ditch with Alex and says she hasn’t looked back since.
Luana explained that this benefited both their personal and professional lives, and as a result, at the beginning of their relationship, the couple decided to sleep in separate rooms.

“It made me appreciate the little things more,” Luana said. “Running water, electricity, internet, keeping mosquitoes away and straightening my hair. It changed who I am as a person. I’ve also changed my full name to reflect this.
Luana says her life exploded into chaos before she made the unconventional decision to move and live in a mud-filled ditch.
“After eight years of happy marriage, my marriage failed,” she explains. “I was confused, my confidence and self-esteem collapsed and I felt like I didn’t even know who I was anymore.”
“I was living in a beautiful suburb of Leeds, running my dream job and having a great income, but I felt lost and empty.”
Luana said that Alex’s drive, spark, and enthusiasm immediately lit a fire in her, and she never knew that side of him.

“I felt I had to flee. Al Meyer, a family friend, had moved to Portugal, where he bought land, and it made sense to me that Portugal would be where I could find some space.”
“As soon as I arrived, I realized that I did not want to leave. I had booked a beautiful holiday apartment and Al came to see me and stayed with me.

“I would like to say that the sanctuary opened and we rescued a lot of animals and everything went well, but unfortunately it didn’t have to be like that,” Luana said. “We faced so much opposition and were devastated, we left the area when we realized our next move.”
