Gastronomy holidays are just a miracle. Each is another reason to organize a cheat meal and eat something starchy, sweet or simply harmful with a clear conscience.
Today we celebrate pizza day and loud “Mamma mia!” we say. and practice Italian hand gestures. Italians place their index fingers on their cheeks and bend them slightly to show how delicious they are.
The pizza as it is today originated in Naples at the beginning of the 19th century and, like the tastiest things in the world (black caviar, lobster, oysters, and fondue), was the food of the poor. Since 2017, pizza has been listed as a UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The Fashion Vibes columnist Anya Baturina has compiled a list of restaurants with the most delicious pizzas. UNESCO approves!
Pizza 22 cm
The smallest of the entire selection – just 22 centimeters in diameter (as you might guess from the name), this pizza is perfect for one. You can’t share it with anyone and you won’t explode with gluttony. Perfectly fluffy crust and thin dough, Neapolitans will appreciate it. The menu includes classics and “new world” gastronomic experiments. But the most interesting thing is that every month, one or two new flavors appear here temporarily – from some friendly chefs and bloggers or celebrities. In February, these are chef’s pizza from Sergey Fokin (former chef at St. Petersburg Eclipse and now opened his own restaurant in Sri Lanka) and a Russian-themed fantasy from radio host Dasha Kasyanova.

garda

Garda, the new Italian restaurant in Petrovka, has the most beautiful pizza oven. A masterpiece in the style of Dolce & Gabbana. Well, how else, true Italians love all things flashy and shiny – so if you find yourself in the second-floor lounge, you can see how pizza is cooked in this elegant wood-burning oven. By the way, there is so much in truffle pizza that the dough is there just so you don’t die of pleasure at the table.

maritozzo

You can argue endlessly which pizza is tastier: Neapolitan or Roman (the first one, of course), but why can you spend that time for lunch or dinner? By the way, talking about food while eating is a favorite Italian feature, perhaps this is how you can distinguish a true inhabitant of the Apennine Peninsula. Pizza dough at Maritozzo is super light (thanks to the strict and correct recipe – you get at least 70% water, another 15% and a cucumber). For those who can’t decide if they have enough energy for a snack on the menu, there is a perfect pizza. It’s practically a 2-in-1: pizza with whole burrata, sun-dried tomatoes, and arugula.

Remy Kitchen Oven
Didn’t you know that Remy makes pizza? And classic, delicious, Neapolitan. Yes, but only on Arbat, the chain’s newest (fourth) restaurant. But otherwise, everything is the same: the same chef – the luxurious Ruslan Polyakov, the same chef-baker – the wonderful Anna Malikova. We recommend that you sit closer to the open kitchen area with the oven so that you can see in detail how the pizza is made. Get it with mortadella or sujuk – they are the best. In the 1960s this building housed a Khleb store, so the emphasis on bakeries was just in time.

rocky2
The Rocky 2 restaurant represents the itameshi fashion trend, a mix of Italian and Japanese cuisines. And if the classic frito misto, octopus, chicken, and shrimp have gained Asian flavors on the menu, then pizza mostly remains the classic. However, for those who are ready to make a bolder choice instead of pistachio mortadella, 4 cheeses with smoked pears and vitelo tonnato (transferred to pizza base), we recommend trying calzone with smoked eel and stracciatella. Get your phone ready and pull the shuttle – it can “fly” on the rails, especially on pizza day.

lumicino
Restaurant-nostalgia and memory is a journey through William Lamberti’s childhood, adolescence and youth. The menu has extreme traditional dishes and family stories on the sidelines. Try the extraordinary pizza with ham, potatoes and truffle sauce. Yep, you wouldn’t be wrong – it’s a pizza with potatoes (and not even chips, but crusts) – an homage to typical Italian fast food. You won’t find this in Italy, but a simpler option – french fries and hot dogs, for example, is highly appreciated by William’s son, Michele.

+39 Pizzeria and Mozzarella Bar
The name of the restaurant decided to provide everything. If a pizzeria and a bar are open approximately, then the mysterious numbers are the dialing code of Italy. As you sit here, at times you catch yourself thinking you’ve really come to Italy, because in the hall (without windows, but with a bright picture of the Neapolitan port on the wall), right at the epicenter of the loud Italian conversation, it’s easy to believe that she’s no longer Krasnaya Presnya and a bit of Kyaya. In the first room, you can watch how burrata, mozzarella and other cheeses are made and then come to your plate or pizza through a transparent window.

expert
If you prefer a rectangle of geometric shapes and the dough is crispy rather than soft and slightly viscous, you’ll love Roma pizza (this was a quick test). Italian fast food Maestrello has more than 20 types of pizza (soups, salads and desserts are also available). The pizzeria understands how difficult it is to choose, so they came up with Quattro Anni with four different fillings at once. By the way, the Maestrello corner has recently opened in the new Warehouse in the square of the three stations.

“Pasta and Basta”
An elegant Italian restaurant on Sretensky Avenue prepares thin crust pizza with crests on the walls of all possible types of pasta. From classics like Donna Margherita to the quirky Prosciutto Mascarpone. Meanwhile, wine is pouring from the wall and you can sign and send a postcard to your friends from the restaurant (February 14 coming soon – start getting ready now).

bocconcino

It’s unclear how you could only choose one of the 22 pizzas on the menu, but hedonistic holidays are good because you can start with them and never stop. Start the celebration with the signature Parma ham and stracchino cheese, then go on a rustic pizza frenzy with tuna and mozzarella. For dessert, pizza is also available here – Dolce with mascarpone cheese, fresh fruits and chocolate.

B.C

The legend of legends – once the most popular pizza of all instagrammers (bloggers from a banned social network) – moved from the closed Simach to the MO restaurant in the summer with salmon and lime. It tastes and looks the same as before – more salmon than the thinnest batter. Suitable for those who remember their best parties with nostalgia, to celebrate the legendary pizza day.

“Very good pizza”

Low expectations are the best thing that can happen to you in life (because when everything goes well, you’re doubly happy). And so it happened with the name “So-so Pizza”, because the pizza in this place is not like that at all, but with a very, correct Neapolitan leopard crust. It seems that more attention is paid to the shell than others – it is too wide and fluffy for children. Only the location is so – behind the Studencheskaya metro station, with an entrance from a second-hand store, but for someone it will definitely be a new place “in the area”.
