Woman dies outside O2 Brixton Academy in London after falling in love at concerts

A woman died on Saturday and eight other people were injured at a concert outside London’s famous O2 Brixton Academy on Thursday, police said today.

Rebecca Ikumolo (33) in London was admitted to hospital after she fell in love outside the venue where the Nigerian singer Asake was to perform.

In addition to the death, the Metropolitan Police said two other women, aged 21 and 23, were in a critical condition.

It asked people with photos or videos of the scene to submit them to help the police investigation.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed his condolences over the incident.

“Rebecca had her whole life ahead of her and on behalf of all Londoners I want to express my condolences to her family, friends and loved ones at this extremely difficult time,” he said.

“My thoughts are with everyone affected by this horrific incident. It is essential that the investigation into the incident is concluded as soon as possible.”

Asake said he was “overwhelmed with grief” over Ikumelo’s death.

“My deepest condolences to her family at this time. Please let us keep her family in our prayers. I have spoken to them and will continue to do so,” he wrote on Instagram.
