Netflix Sets Premiere Date for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Copenhagen Cowboy;  Publish official trailer

After taking a quick look at Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming six-part series Copenhagen cowboy in September Netflix today released its first full official trailer (see above). The streamer has also set the global launch for January 5, 2023.

The neon-drenched noir series follows enigmatic young heroine Miu (Angela Bundalovic). After a life of slavery and on the brink of a new beginning, she traverses the eerie landscape of Copenhagen’s criminal underworld. In search of justice and revenge, she meets her nemesis Rakel (Lola Corfixen) as they embark on an odyssey through the natural and the supernatural. The past changes and ultimately defines their future as the two women discover that they are not alone, but many.

Other leads include Zlatko Buric, Andreas Lykke Jørgensen, Jason Hendil-Forssell, LiIi Zhang and Dragana Milutinovic.

The series originally debuted at the Venice Film Festival. When it was first announced, Winding Refn, the filmmaker behind the printer trilogy, motivation and The neon demonsaid: “With Copenhagen cowboyI return to my past to create my future by creating a series, an extension of my ever-evolving alter ego, now in the form of my young heroine, Miu.

Winding Refn created and directed his first production in his native Denmark in 15 years. Authors are Sara Isabella Jönsson, Johanne Algren and Mona Masri. The cinematographer is award-winning Magnus Nordenhof Jønck, who was nominated for Tobias Lindholm’s Oscar A war.

Copenhagen cowboy is produced by Lene Børglum and Christina Bostofte Erritzøe and produced by Liv Corfixen and Matthew Newman.
