Katie Hobbs Named Arizona Governor’s Race Winner by NBC & CNN; Kari Lake Final Election Denial of 2020 GOP loses midterm bid

It was a real nail-biter in the Grand Canyon State, but Katie Hobbs bested former TV host and Donald Trump acolyte Kari Lake in the race for Arizona’s next governor, NBC, CNN and other networks projected Monday .

The tight race between candidates has been too close to call since Tuesday’s midterm elections, but the state’s latest results showed Republican Lake would not be able to overcome the lead of incumbent Arizona Secretary of State Hobbs. As more than 71,000 votes and other data poured in from Maricopa County tonight, the Comcast network made its first call:

CNN declared Hobbs the winner at 6:15 PM PT. ABC News, CBS News and Fox News also predicted Hobbs as the winner.

Lake’s defeat is an impressive result for a candidate who seemed poised to become the next star on the right. Just hours before polls closed on Nov. 8, the almost always even-tempered Lake told reporters at a press conference that it would be “your worst nightmare in eight years, and we’re going to reform the media, too.” We will make you journalists again.” Lake endorsed Donald Trump and warmly welcomed his refusal to vote.

On election night and since then, Hobbs held a slight lead over Lake, surprising many pundits who questioned the quiet Democrat’s strategy of refusing to engage in a debate with her rival. Lake, meanwhile, has been bashing Arizona election officials as slowly and incompetently as the process has taken time. She also expressed doubts about the results, but some refuted allegations of election conspiracy.

Bill Gates, the Republican chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, countered Lake’s claims, telling reporters that her criticism was “offensive.”

Lake’s strategy of challenging the results even landed her in court Saturday night live Cold Open last weekend, in which she was shown criticizing the legitimacy of the state count when told she was behind, but praised when she was ahead. The skit also featured former local news anchor Lake as a possible Fox News anchor should she lose the election — a fiction that looks a lot like fact that isn’t yet true.

Hobbs, a pick for Joe Biden’s party, will become the increasingly bleak state’s first Democratic governor since Janet Napolitano, who served from 2003 to 2009. Former Veep Biden won Arizona in 2020 in a very close race against the former famous apprentice Host Trump – a fact that apparently never got over the ex-POTUS.

Lake is the latest election denier to lose her bid. Networks predicted on Friday that Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) would defeat another Trump supporter, Blake Masters, in the US Senate race in Arizona and win himself a full term. After the former astronaut returned to the upper chamber and Nevada incumbent Catherine Cortez Masto was declared the winner in her thrilling race on Nov. 12, Democrats now hold 50 Senate seats. Even with Georgia’s runoff election set for Dec. 6 and Vice President Kamala Harris handling the battleground, Democrats are holding on for victory after the midterm elections, which many predicted would see President Joe Biden and Democrats drown in a red wave which has never been seen before. before maintaining control of the upper room appears.

In Arizona alone, Hobbs’ victory spells utter defeat for Trump-sponsored 2020 election deniers and Big Lie supporters.

Control of the House of Representatives is still unknown, but it looks like Republicans will end up with a razor-thin majority.
