Somchai was taken to hospital, where he was conscious, but his penis was so badly injured that doctors fear it will no longer function.

Bunteurm laughed as he told police: “I had just come off work and was sitting in the room with my girlfriend drinking alcohol before he got up and took out the gun I keep in the cupboard.

“I was walking by my ex-wife’s house, so I stopped to talk to her, but I accidentally had the gun in my hand and accidentally pulled the trigger.

“The gun went off and hit the area between Somchai’s legs, but that was not my intention.

“I was scared so I quickly left and put the gun back in the clothes rack like before and closed the bedroom door until the police came.”

Bunteurm’s ex-wife Ubonrat told the police that she has two children with her ex-husband – a 15-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl.

However, Ubonrat said her ex has not been able to move on since they divorced about six years ago.

She said Bunturm pushed open the door of their one-story home and called out, “Where is he?”

The angry ex then allegedly shoved the gun into her new partner’s groin before pulling away and shooting him in the crotch.

The bullet hit him in the penis.

Ubonrat said: “I don’t care if his penis stops working. The doctors said it was shot and it wouldn’t work.”
