It’s autumn and the childhood virus season has begun! Among them, this filthy bronchiolitis that sends many children to hospital every year. This year the viral infection takes hold particularly early and overflows the pediatric services weakened by the hospital crisis.
In an open letter addressed to the President of the Republic signed by 4,000 health workers, the medical profession denounces the crisis in pediatric services and the difficulty of guaranteeing the safety of children.
The difficulty of ensuring the safety of children
For lack of resources, health workers are struggling to cope with a bronchiolitis outbreak that begins particularly early this year. The pediatric services, already exhausted by the shortage of staff and the closure of many beds, are saturated.
On 21 October, the caregivers sent an open letter to Emmanuel Macron denouncing working conditions that no longer allow them to guarantee the safety of their patients. Transfers away from families, unsuitable hospitalization conditions, postponement of non-urgent interventions, the solutions currently in place are far from ideal.
Measures that still and always are based on the dedication of caregivers
Olivier Véran, spokesman for the government, assures that this appeal has been heard by the President of the Republic. ” An immediate action plan “ will be put in place to ensure adequate care for all sick children.
The Minister of Health, François Braun, promises the activation of white plans (exceptional mobilization of all material and human resources available). He also asks parents not to go systematically to the emergency room and to contact 15 in case of concern.
For her part, Agnès Firmin le Bodo, Minister Delegate for the Organization of the Territory and the Health Professions, declared to the microphone of France Info that she counted on solidarity between hospitals and city medicinealso overloaded.
If these measures can allow the epidemic to be overcome, they do not solve the current crisis and could indeed aggravate the sense of exhaustion that weighs on the entire profession.
