Sergei Sobyanin announces the completion of partial mobilization in Moscow

The Mayor of Moscow announced the completion of partial mobilization in the capital. Today, an article was published on the website of Sergei Sobyanin, stating that “partial mobilization tasks created on the basis of the Presidential Decree and the mandate of the Ministry of Defense have been completed in full.” As stated in the text, collection points for those mobilized on 17 October at 14.00 today were closed, and summons sent to their place of residence and workplaces are no longer valid.

In his speech, Sobyanin thanked the inhabitants of the city for their patriotism, and also promised to “pray” for the “return alive and healthy” of the mobilized:

On September 21, the President of the Russian Federation declared partial mobilization in the country on the backdrop of a Russian military special operation in Ukraine. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that 300,000 people will be summoned at this stage. After the President’s speech, many Russians decided to leave the country, which led to huge queues at the borders of the Russian Federation and a sharp increase in airfares. Some companies removed their male employees with their families and bought entire flights for them. In particular, it was the problem of companies – developers of video games. The Guardian wrote that wealthy Russians paid millions to leave the country on private jets for fear of closing the borders. On October 14, Vladimir Putin announced at a press conference that the mobilization activities would be completed within two weeks. According to him, out of the 300,000 planned, 222,000 were mobilized.
