Diana Armstrong from Minnesota, USA became the woman with the longest nails in the world in history. The total length of his nails on both hands was 1306.58 cm – by the way, longer than the length of a standard yellow school bus.
Diana has been growing her nails for over 25 years. So, on the right finger – the longest nail. Its length is 138.94 centimeters. And only this August it was allowed to be commemorated in the Guinness Book of Records. Why? Why?
In 1997, there was a tragedy when Diana stopped cutting her nails. His first daughter, Latisha, who got manicures every weekend, died of an asthma attack at the age of 16.
“He gave me a manicure the night before. After that, I could no longer cut my nails,” Diana says.
In the following years, Diana’s children tried to persuade their mother to cut their nails. But she explained that raising them helped Latisha deal with her post-death depression and was a way to keep her deceased daughter in her thoughts.

After the tragedy, Diana became a stay-at-home mom and focused entirely on growing her nails. And now, when they’ve reached this length, painting has become a laborious process – each nail can take four to five hours. Therefore, she gets a manicure every four or five years. Usually it needs 15-20 bottles of varnish and a special tool for filing.

Of course, long nails are annoying. Diana can’t pick up coins, has stopped driving, doesn’t buy clothes with zippers, and her kids have to watch her move all the time.
“We have to be very careful, we always dodge it so it doesn’t hit us in the face or get caught in its nails,” Diana’s children say.
Previously, Diana did not accept photography, she was afraid of criticism and condemnation from society, but over time she began to feel more comfortable and now considers her nails beautiful.

He was surprised that the nails, although long, caught the attention of the Guinness Book of Records. But Diana’s children and grandchildren were delighted when they found out about it.
“I think he [Латиша] she would be proud of me because she was the last to do my manicure,” Diana said.
Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday personally attended the presentation of the record holder’s certificate and said it was a privilege for him to spend the day with Diana and her family.
By the way, the record for nail length on one woman’s hands belonged to American Ayanna Williams before she decided to cut it. Diana’s nails broke the previous record with 573.03 centimeters.
