This is not really reassuring information. On Thursday, September 22, as they were preparing to change their nine-month-old baby, a couple of parents had the unpleasant surprise of discovering a maggot on one of the diapers, from a new package.
After taking a photo as proof, they would have deposited a handrail at the gendarmerie of Breil-sur-Mérize, in Sarthe, their city.
Cuddles: a larva discovered in a new package
Parents say they are shocked. On the microphone of France Bleu, Christopher Elisé, the father of the child, explained:
[La larve] it was about an inch. My wife had the camera to take a picture because she was bothering her shocked and threw the package out of the window. The insect had been there for a while since the layers were marked by the shape of the worm. It was really unpleasant.
The boy’s father also explains that he found a similar larva at the bottom of the diaper bag a few days earlier, without understanding its origin at the time. After filing a handrail, the baby’s father also informed the Carrefour Market where the diapers had been purchased and contacted the Pampers consumer service.
The Pampers brand takes it seriously
According to France Bleu, following the call from the child’s father, the brand would have decided to launch a serious investigation to determine the possible causes of the accident, at each stage of diaper manufacturing, storage and use of the product, without being able to explain the origin of this larva.
Pampers claims to get ” pest controls“, But also to inspect each layer using special cameras, to prevent such incidents from occurring.
However, it is not the first time that such an event has been reported, since last May, in Vienne, the mother of a child also discovered worms on several layers of the same Pampers package. . After receiving advice and control from an independent expert, all production processes seemed to be working. The expert further stated that ” the insects posed absolutely no health risk“.
No health risk perhaps, but scary nonetheless.
