The infamous Harvey Weinstein may be free. According to the New York Post, the New York Court of Appeals gave the filmmaker the opportunity to appeal the decision.

Judge Janet DiFiore has allowed Harvey’s lawyers to appeal the decision made in 2020. Thus, after examining the case, the court can change or cancel the sentence, as well as appoint new actions. Now the filmmaker can be released on bail, according to journalists.
“We hope to make a decision in late spring/early summer 2023. Harvey hopes the judges will review his sentence. “He continues to plead innocent today,” said Arthur L. Aydala, the filmmaker’s lawyer.

Recall that the sex scandal broke out in the fall of 2017. Since then, more than 100 women have reported harassment at the hands of a Hollywood producer. Some of the charges were dropped in October 2018 for lack of evidence. In March 2020, Harvey pleaded guilty to two of five counts of rape and sexual harassment and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
