The 36-year-old Finnish Prime Minister, Sanna Marin, was at the center of the controversy when a video of a party where she danced with her friends surfaced online. This caused Marin’s harsh criticism: many decided that such behavior was inappropriate for a political leader, especially in a tense situation in the world. Finnish MP Mikko Kärnä urged him to take a voluntary drug test.

Marin refused to use drugs and said she “had nothing to hide”.

He told reporters at a press conference at the airport in Kuopio.

He explained his behavior in the video, adding that he drank a little and did not realize that someone was using illegal substances with him.

The politician noted that he did not expect videos from a private party to enter the network. Marin added that he will not change his lifestyle due to criticism. Some Finnish celebrities were also seen in the video: singer Alma and her sister Anna, rapper Petri Nygard, TV presenter Tinni Wikstrom, famous photographer Janita Autio, radio host Karolina Tuominen and members of the Social Democratic Party, which includes Marin herself.

A few months ago, Marin was already at the center of a scandal: the then prime minister was criticized for spending time in clubs after coming into contact with an infected coronavirus. He explained this by the fact that he forgot his work phone at home before the party and didn’t get a message that he needed to isolate himself.

In 2020, Sanna Marin was criticized for a photo shoot where she posed in a deep-necked jacket that she wore directly over her bare body.

Sanna Marin is one of Finland’s youngest world leaders and youngest prime ministers. She took over as prime minister in 2019 at the age of 34.

Earlier, German publication Bild described Marin as “the toughest politician in the world” for his relaxed leadership style, but some critics called him “sloppy”.
