Why is it called “crab claw”?
“Crab Claw”, well, that’s a weird name. The latter actually comes from their opening and closing system which works the same way as a crab’s small claws. Until then, there is no need to have a PhD in mechanical engineering.
Having a structure with more or less pointed teeth and an opening that can accommodate sometimes fine, sometimes thick hair, each clip size is established in order to contain a type of hair and its specificities. Fine hair will be able to choose small clips with fine teeth and a very tight closure system, while curly and thick hair will prefer larger clips with wide teeth.
What hairstyle to adopt with a crab clip?
There are several types of hairstyles that can be achieved using a crab clip. But the easiest of all (and above all the trendiest) remains the slightly melted banana sandwich, very popular in the 90s. To make this happen, simply gather your hair into a ponytail, fold it over one finger (preferably the middle finger), create a loop and lift it by twisting the lengths around themselves. Then attach the clamp and that’s it!
If you prefer medium-highs, twist your hair back on itself and tie it half-length with the crab clip. Then you can drop the tips on the clip for a proper 1990-2000 effect.
