Here’s what to pack in your delivery room, according to a midwife

In the delivery room, a few accessories are enough to give birth. Here they are listed in a handy video, posted by a midwife.

After the maternity suitcase, here is the delivery room bag. In fact, when you go to the maternity ward to deliver your little hot roast, no need to lug around with your large suitcase and you lose patience opening it to find a fog or a long shirt, all between two contractions.

The delivery room bag

As Hélène, the midwife we adore at Madmoizelle puts it so well, most of the bag in the delivery room can fit in a large tote bag.

Take a pen and paper, here’s what you can take with you (leaving the large suitcase in the car, or in a corner of the delivery room):

  • Your complete medical record (latest blood tests, pregnancy record, etc.)
  • Your administrative file (identity card, personal data card, certificate of advance recognition, family booklet, etc.)
  • Your birth plan written down, which you can also tell orally to the teams who care for you, and also include in your pregnancy file
  • One or two comfortable items, such as long t-shirt, soft cotton blouse, long tank top
  • Flip flops or a pair of socks for cold feet
  • A bottle of water (yes, you can drink during childbirth)
  • A nebulizer
  • A sugary drink, such as fruit juice
  • A hair elastic
  • A phone charger
  • A comb, not for your hair, but to draw attention from the pain elsewhere by squeezing it tightly in your hand
  • A small Bluetooth speaker for listening to music
  • If you want to put it in your bag, you can add the baby’s welcome outfit, consisting of a bodysuit, pajamas, hat, wool vest and sleeping bag. It may seem like a lot, but the small roast suddenly reaches 37 °, it will come off when it gets out of there!
  • Anything that can do you good and make the room more comfortable, such as a plaid, battery operated light garland to dim …

And you, what would you add to this list? Next time we’ll tell you what to pack in a newborn’s suitcase and close the loop!
