A court in London eased restrictions on the accounts of Russian businessman Pyotr Aven. It is reported by Bloomberg.
Therefore, the court allowed the Russian billionaire to pay expenses for “essential needs”, although his lawyers insisted that his bank accounts be frozen completely. The meeting was held as part of the consideration of the sanctions avoidance case against Aven.
During the court session, it became known that the basic needs of the businessman were met by his wife Ekaterina. At the same time, the businessman’s expenses amounted to about 140 thousand pounds per month. Most of the funds are used to protect and insure the art collection (estimated at £300m).
The criminal case against Aven was opened in May after an alleged violation: as part of the sanctions, Aven could not spend more than 2.5 thousand pounds per month, although the British authorities believed that the billionaire “live beyond his means.”
The billionaire was sanctioned on March 15. Later, the billionaire gave an interview to the Financial Times, in which he admitted that he did not understand how to pay the expenses now.
Earlier, it was known that Roman Abramovich, who was also subject to Western sanctions, demanded that the EU transfer $ 1 million to the aid foundation.
