After Douglas Henshall announced that he would make his final appearance as DI Jimmy Perez in the BBC’s hit murder mystery drama. ShetlandThe BBC has released the first trailer for the new season.
Henshall debuted in 2013 as DI Perez on BBC One in the first television adaptation of the novels by award-winning crime writer Anne Cleaves. However, after nine years in the role, Henshall decided to leave Shetland to explore other acting opportunities.
Henshall said: “5. after the series ShetlandDavid Kane and I decided to do two more series to complete the Jimmy Perez story. Thus, series 6 and 7 were planned together to allow time for the Perez story to conclude satisfactorily. One of the privileges of my career is playing Jimmy Perez for almost a decade and working with so many great people both in front of and behind the camera and spending a lot of time in Shetland. The islands were part of our show, and Pérez himself. I will miss him and the place. Whatever happens next, I wish good luck to everyone involved.”
