The political and ideological battle for the right to abortion continues to rage in the United States. Just a month after Roe vs. Wade, who had guaranteed the right to abortion since 1973, the feminist mobilization does not want to show any signs of weakness.
This Tuesday, July 19, a pro-abortion demonstration was held in Washington DC, not far from the Supreme Court. After three warnings to disperse the crowd, the police arrested about thirty people, including 18 Democratic members of Congresson the grounds that they were illegally blocking traffic.

Among them, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Veronica Escobar, Cori Bush or Jan Schakowsky:
The Supreme Court will not stop us. Even if we have been arrested, we will not stop organizing, agitating and legislating for justice.
We have. pic.twitter.com/wDHzptEYiQ

AOC still in the crosshairs of anti-abortion
This is nothing new: Republicans and more generally all reactionaries in the United States have never missed the opportunity to attack Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez since her election in 2019.

And they did not miss this new opportunity: in the video that has circulated showing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez escorted by a police officer, the chosen one is standing hands behind your back as if she had been handcuffed. Except she isn’t, and that’s very clear when you see her. raise your fist a few meters away.
But that was enough for AOC’s political enemies to accuse him of having it arranged his arrest for the buzzall this to once again denigrate his political action, thus diverting the attention of the media.
One month after Roe vs. Wade, where are we?
Within weeks of the Supreme Court’s decision to drastically revoke the right to abortion, a survey shows that public trust and support for the nine judges has melted like snow in the sun. In 2021, in the same period of the year, they and they were 60% to support the institution: after Roe vs. Wade, that’s down to 38%.
While the very conservative judge Clarence Thomas had made no secret of his desire to reverse other important social advances, the House of Representatives has just passed a bill to ensure the protection of the right to marry of same-sex couples, guaranteed by the Obergefell v. Hodges since 2015. However, the text must be examined in the Senate where it has little chance of being adopted.
