How to dress in a heat wave in the office? Long live jackets, tank tops and sleeveless blazers

When you don’t know what to wear to the office due to extreme heat, a sleeveless jacket, vest or blazer helps you look professional without dying of heat. The proof of 15.

In times of heatwave, you may have a strong desire to go to work in a bra, shorts, and flip flops. And all the better if your work allows it. For others, your professional setting may require a more formal dressing room. But luckily jackets, vests and sleeveless blazers can serve as a wild card.

Why pull out a jacket, cardigan or sleeveless blazer against the heat wave at work

Technically they are two very different pieces.. As the name suggests, a sleeveless blazer is a jacket that leaves the arms uncovered. It can therefore ideally have functional pockets. While a jacket, also called a sleeveless vest, rarely has functional pockets (aside from what to historically tuck into a pocket watch, but nowadays, people are rare to tell the time this way). In fact, it comes from the three-piece suit. The jacket often has a small adjustable part in the back (a martingale) to fit the waist. This is one of the reasons why English speakers call the sleeveless vest a ” waistcoat (good to know if you are looking for second hand models online, for example).

And since these two pieces come from a formal (and masculine) register, they do the job perfectly in a professional setting, without getting too hot about it all. Because of their origin, they allow you to add an extra seriousness to a look that you might be afraid of considering too casual for the university or the office..

Over a summer dress, frayed denim shorts or even trousers that can look like jogging pants, the blazer or sleeveless jacket immediately transforms the look into a more formal register. And this, whether you wear it over a top, a t-shirt, a t-shirt, a tank top. These garments can also be worn in contact with the skin for a minimalist result. (especially if you are afraid of being mistaken for a waiter).

So here’s something to give a red-hot quickdraw a business twist, without dying of heat under this extra layer.
