The 20th television animation agrees to recognize Animation Guild as the bargaining representative for production workers on “The Simpsons”, “Family Guy” and “American Dad!”

Updated with details: 20 Television Animation has agreed to voluntarily recognize the Animation Guild as the representative of collective bargaining for production workers. The move towards unionization came on May 26, when the vast majority of entertainment production workers demanded that companies voluntarily recognize the union as their bargaining agent. The union then filed union election petitions to the National Labor Relations Board for each show.

Bargaining unit employees include show production managers, production supervisors, production coordinators, writer’s assistants, production assistants, associate producers, office assistants, and IT supervisors. The entertainers of the show are already covered by the corporation contract.

The news comes on the same day that members of the Animation Guild voted overwhelmingly to ratify his new film and television contract with the Motion Picture and Television Producers Alliance.
