Ricky Martin has denied all allegations of domestic violence leveled against him over the weekend in Puerto Rico.
The denial of the singer of “Livin ‘” in La Vida Loca comes after local police announced on Saturday that a restraining order for domestic violence had been filed against him.
The complaint was filed under Law 54, also known as the Law for the Prevention and Intervention of Domestic Violence. The Associated Press reported that police were unable to issue a warrant against the singer until Friday because they had not yet located him.
“We confirm that the Puerto Rico police are submitting a protection order, in accordance with Law 54, issued against Mr. Enrique Martín,” the police said in a statement.
Police spokesman Axel Valencia told the AP that the order prevents Martin from communicating with the complainant and that a judge will later decide whether the order remains in effect. The plaintiff is not named in the lawsuit.
“The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to the protection order are completely false and fabricated,” Martin’s representatives told People magazine. “We are confident that when the real facts of this matter are known, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
It’s been a troubled week for the star, sometimes dubbed the “King of Latin Pop,” with his former manager Rebecca Drucker suing him for over $ 3 million in unpaid royalties. Drucker managed Martin for two separate periods, from 2014 to 2018 and then from 2020 to 2022. His attorneys presented a sometimes chilling 15-page document in support of their claim, adding, “With Rebecca at his side, Martin made millions. dollars and therefore owes Rebecca a large commission.
