On TikTok, recipes for abortive herbal teas abound dangerously
Among these, some propose false recipes for abortion at home in a more or less codified way. Pretending to warn pregnant women of the risks of consuming certain products, people who use TikTok play with words and general desperation, as reported by the media Stunned.
The virality of these false abortion recipes signals the extent of despair
Unsurprisingly, some social networks like TikTok are already teeming with misinformation that is browsing in general panic to gain virality. As also noted by the media entrance, many of these recipes are from the WitchTok, which is the part of TikTok passionate about witchcraft. However, among some harmless recipes, some have toxic or even fatal risks, such as those based on mugwort, blue cohosh, mint or angelica root.
Like the number Stunned, Google searches from June to today in the United States for some of these plants have increased significantly: + 62% for mint and + 68% for mugwort, for example. However, there is no evidence of their effectiveness in terms of abortion. What is shown, however, is their toxicity in certain contexts and uses.
These spikes in searches for failed recipes and the virality of videos featuring false and dangerous ones clearly indicate the extent of despair. And the disaster to come.
