The CW acquires the Canadian drama series “Family Law” with Jewel Staite and Victor Garber

The CW continues to expand the acquisition’s writing sheet by adding a Canadian drama series family law, An hour-long legal drama from Entertainment One. The date of the premiere is to be defined.

Created, written and produced by Susin Nielsen, family law, Staite Jewel Stars (Firefly) Ed Emmy and Tony called Victor Garber (DC’s legends of tomorrow), with Zak Samadus (Cardinal) and Janel Williams (space).

The drama series tells the story of alcoholic and recovering lawyer Abigail Bianchi (Estado) who struggles to reclaim her career and family after falling off a cliff. With her sentence suspended, Abi is forced to work for her father Harry’s (Garber) firm, Svensson and Associates, and practices family law for the first time, while forging a new relationship with her half-brother Daniel (Samadu) and the stepbrother. -And Lucy (Williams), whom she has never met. The result is a dysfunctional family law firm that works to help other families with their own dysfunctions.

The executive producer of the series is Jordi Randall of Seven24 (heart) and Tom Cox (Lucky son) and Lark Erin Husket (Reasonand Andy Mikita (SG-1 Stargate) also serve as executive producers. eOne holds the international distribution rights. The deal was negotiated by Dan Loewy, CEO of eOne, Sales, Americas and ANZ.
