Special: Executives from the annual Webby Awards celebrate the World of Podcasting with the first Signal Awards.
Held in January 2023, The Signal Awards honor the growth and cultural impact of podcasts across a variety of categories, including news, sports, crime and talk shows. The awards ceremony will also release the categories of editing, writing, production, sound design, original music and production. Shows, indie episodes, limited series and special offers, branded podcasts, and podcast ads will be accepted. The Signal Awards will also include a number of “I love to listen” categories, including Best Gateway Podcast, Road Trip Podcast, Inspirational Podcast and more.
“We can’t deny the cultural impact of podcasts,” said David-Michel Davis, executive director and CEO of the Webby Awards. But despite such huge growth, finding a good job is still incredibly difficult. The Signal Awards will work with the industry to set the bar for excellence, be comprehensive in identifying work that meets this mark, and create more opportunities for top podcasters and professionals to stand out and stand out.”
The first judges for the Signal Awards are iHeartRadio executive producer Anna Hossnieh; Michael Gluckstadt – Director of Podcast Content, HBO Max; Trevor McNally – Global Social Leader, Amazon Music Podcast; Ray Chao – Voice, Vox Media and Rae Votta – General Manager, Global Editorial and Podcasts Podcasts, Netflix. HBO Max and Pod People signed on as early co-founders.
Signal Awards now hosts show tickets, limited series and special offers, individual episodes and branded podcasts in a wide variety of categories at www.SignalAwards.com. The earliest deadline is May 6, 2022.
