Drafts of Bob Dylan’s famous song sold at auction for a record half a million dollars

Drafts of the song Mr. Tambourine Man, written by Bob Dylan in 1965, was sold at an auction in Nashville for 508 thousand dollars (52 million rubles at the current exchange rate – Note ed.), writes The Guardian.

The drafts’ initial estimate ranged from $400 to $600 thousand, according to the publication. As a result, they were sold for 508 thousand. The famous musician’s recordings were included in the auction, which also included 50 pieces from the personal collection of American music journalist Al Aronowitz.

The Guardian also says that in March 1964, Aronowitz woke up to find 22-year-old Dylan asleep on the couch and found a crumpled piece of paper in the trash with the lyrics to the song Mr. Wendy. Tambourine Man. It was revealed that Dylan spent the night at Aronowitz’s home in New Jersey, writing and rewriting the new song on a typewriter before throwing out the first drafts.
