Brazilian Joao Marinho Neto was recognized as the world’s oldest man after the death of Briton John Tinniswood, who died at the age of 112. This was reported on the official website of the Guinness Book of Records.
Joao Marinho Neto was born on October 5, 1912 in Maranguali. “The Brazilian was called the oldest living man following the death of 112-year-old John Tinniswood,” the statement said. According to the man, the secret of his longevity lies in his surroundings: there are always kind and caring people and loved ones next to him.
Neto grew up in a farming family and from the age of four he helped his father in the fields: he looked after cattle and picked fruit. Growing up, João fathered seven children and continued farming. Today, Joao has 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He owns several houses and land. Neto received a Guinness Book of World Records certificate at the age of 112 years and 52 days. See his photo here.
