The story of an Indian teenager who became rich thanks to a game show returns. Film bosses became interested in developing the plot of Slumdog Millionaire.
Bridge7, founded by former Netflix executive Swati Shetty, acquired the rights to the sequel to the Oscar-winning film from British company Celador, which created the project in 2008.
Slumdog Millionaire is a film adaptation of Vikas Swarup’s book Questions and Answers. In the series, the main character named Jamal, an 18-year-old boy who grew up in the slums of Mumbai, realized his dream of trying his luck in a series similar to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Life itself gave him answers to the most important questions.
The film marked the debut of Dev Patel, who played the lead role. It is unclear whether he will appear in the upcoming sequel. The original film was a worldwide box office hit and won eight Oscars, including Best Director and Best Picture, as well as seven BAFTA Awards, including Best Drama Movie, and four Golden Globe Awards. Composer AR Rahman won two Oscars for the film’s soundtrack and its smash hit Jai ho.
