Study: Internet use is beneficial under one condition

Scientists at the University of Hong Kong reported that members of this generation who log in frequently to send or receive emails, shop or search for information have better well-being than those who do not. Researchers suggest that Internet use among middle-aged and older adults may promote social interaction and reduce loneliness.

But this is not good news for people under 50 who like to scroll through their online news feeds. It has been revealed that internet use among young people may be associated with increased anxiety, low self-esteem, eating disorders and online harassment.
